Bio

Sina Farzaneh is the head of marketing at iXsystems, the parent company of TrueNAS, an open-source storage software company.  Sina has a distinguished background in building and scaling marketing initiatives for global brands.  He co-founded Pullpath, a customer engagement platform used by major brands including Heineken, Philips and Danone.  He also co-founded ADVOCACY the world’s most awarded word-of-mouth marketing agency, where he drove brand advocacy and market expansion through innovative, data-driven approaches.

Sina grew up in Palo Alto, attending Palo Alto High School.  While at UCSB, he fell in love with Anthropology while completing his general education coursework—originally expecting he would major in computer science.  He spent his junior year abroad in France.

Shortly after graduating from UCSB, Sina took the advice of former Apple executive Guy Kawasaki, and moved to Shanghai, China.  There he co-founded a large word of mouth marketing firm called ADVOCACY. He incorporated anthropological principles such as participatory observation into his work leading to stronger more effective results. He also focuses in on social advocacy through his work. Through these principles and elements of gamification ADVOCACY grew to become the #1 word of mouth marketing firm globally. He moved back to the Bay Area as China was beginning its COVID-19 lockdown, selling his stake in in the company.

Sina earned his B.A. in Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara.
