Alumni

Charles R. Hale, DeanThe Division of Social Sciences has the largest number of Alumni of any Division or School in the University:  90,000 and counting!  We are very proud of you all, and keen to stay in touch as you embark on your career and life paths after graduation.  Our conversations with alumni are crucially important to deepening our understanding of the student experience at UC Santa Barbara, and to forge strategies to reach even greater heights of excellence in the future. Documenting the career paths of alumni is also key for our current students:  helping them see the wide range of possibilities, assuring them that a network of committed Gauchos will be there for them regardless of the path they choose. Alumni traditionally maintain strongest ties with the faculty and department of their major, the organizations they joined, and of course, the friends who were important to them. While affirming all these, I would like to add the additional challenge of forging a deeper identification with, and loyalty to, the Division of Social Sciences. Toward this end, we pledge to keep you informed as to our achievements and plans; and we hope that you will reach out to us for information about the Division, and to let us know where you are, and how you are doing.  And, we hope to greet many of you in person in one of our regional events, or better yet, when you come back to visit the campus!
